Centers Health Care’s official partnership with the NHL’s Buffalo Sabres provided an incredible perk for residents at the Ellicott Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing — a visit from the former goaltender and longtime Buffalo favorite Martin Biron.

Biron, who played for the Sabres from 2001 through 2004 and calls Buffalo home, put smiles on the faces of residents, patients, and staff alike during his visit. He can also be seen riding an exercise bike in an ad for Centers Health Care and our revolutionary GO Rehab program.

“You’ll benefit from intensive therapy up to six days a week with cutting-edge rehab technology and a superlative team of doctors, nurses, and therapists to get you stronger and back to the top of your game,” Biron says in the video. He then adds, while taking a swig of Tim Horton’s coffee, “Oh, and the GO (Rehab) perks are pretty cool too!”

Biron’s visit, along with a visit by fellow Sabres legend and Hockey Hall of Fame goaltender Dominik Hasek to Buffalo Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing, is just part of the benefit that the partnership between Centers and the Sabres has produced.

“Moving forward we will be announcing new collaborative events and initiatives, demonstrating Buffalo Center’s commitment to the healthcare of the Buffalo region,” said Centers Health Care CEO Kenny Rozenberg when the partnership was announced in January. “Our team is honored to work alongside the Sabres team in this wonderful endeavor.”

After playing for the Sabres, Biron was a goalie for the Philadelphia Flyers, New York Islanders, and New York Rangers, before retiring in 2013. The native of Quebec became a United States citizen in 2017, and he lives in Buffalo with his wife and four children. He currently serves as a television analyst for Sabres games, and he also is the director of goaltending at the Academy of Hockey at the Buffalo HarborCenter, which is adjacent to KeyBank Center and is part of the Sabres’ operation.
